Winter Sunset Over the Lake

As the sun was setting, I was able to get low to the ice and frame the sun among the tree stumps. At first I wasn't sure if this composition would work but I really like how it turned out. The Canon EOS R has a fully articulating screen which allowed me to get lower than I normally could and handhold this shot just above the snow.

I love when snow catches the light creating a beautiful shimmer. I also appreciate the leading lines in the snow bank leading the eye to a gorgeous Midwest sunset.

Cedar Waxwing Sitting in Perfect Light

I came home from work tonight to find several robins, waxwings, starlings, and chickadee's. It was a pleasant sight to see and great to hear all of the birds chirping especially after a night where we received 4 inches of snow. The sun was hitting this waxwing as it was nestled among several branches...it made for a perfect moment.

Sleepy Teenager and His Dog

My youngest loves animals and especially finds comfort in our family dog. She is so patient with him and will even share most of her dog bed with this 6'1", lanky teenager. While it is a very grainy image, the moment is worth keeping. This image is shot at 12800 ISO in a very dark room...the best moments don't always wait for perfect lighting.
