Harbor Seals

Harbor SealsHarbor SealsThe Harbor Seals weren't as plentiful as the Sea Otters, but they were there and looking very plump as they depend on their blubber to protect from the cold waters. Their numbers have been on the decline partially due to the reduction of ice floes and and glacier retreat. I love capturing moments of interaction in nature. The first couple of images show a Harbor Seal and a Glaucous-winged Gull staring each other down for the ice floe. Eventually the seal won and took over the chunk of ice.
