This little wren lives in my parent's mailbox and gives his warning calls whenever you walk by, which is fine because when he isn't warning people, he has a pretty song. My mom told me this was one of my Great Grandma Vi's favorite birds. I was young bot have fond memories of her...I sure wish I could sit down and talk with some of my grandparents...

I was able to photograph several of the hummingbirds frequenting my parents' backyard this weekend on Lake Petersburg in Illinois. I am really happy with the way this image turned out as a hummingbird darted around one of the feeders. As you can imagine, they aren't the easiest subject to get focus on due to their speed and size. The focus is sharp...

I'm pretty excited about this image. It is probably, technically, my best hummingbird image to date. This was taken this morning with natural morning light and handheld with my Canon 7d and 400mm lens.
