Showing off the Tail FeathersI was able to photograph several of the hummingbirds frequenting my parents' backyard this weekend on Lake Petersburg in Illinois. I am really happy with the way this image turned out as a hummingbird darted around one of the feeders. As you can imagine, they aren't the easiest subject to get focus on due to their speed and size. The focus is sharp on this bird's eye and head. While the tail is slightly out of focus and the background's complimentary colors just melt away. I love the way you can see this hummingbird's fanned out tail feathers. I love being able to see the beautiful details on something that is normally too small and fast to see in real time.
