Bald Eagle at Sunset on the Mackinaw

When I took this image I didn't think it would turn out. I tried to expose for the eagle while still preserving the sunset. I took a few images at various exposures and with some editing was able to preserve enough detail to make the image work. I just feel lucky to be able to see eagles so close to home on the Mackinaw River.

Winter trails are some of my favorite to explore. They offer a cool and refreshing air with a silence that hits different than the other seasons. With an added fresh blanket of snow, they can lead to some absolutely beautiful scenes. Don't neglect the winter trails.
