When looking through the camera viewfinder through a longer lens you track the bird and before you know it they are directly above you. It feels like they are so close that you might have to duck. What a beautiful experience it is to be so close to these eagles.

Back-lit Eagle over Mississippi River Waters

Sometimes I have to take what nature and lighting give me. This bald eagle was fishing to my right with the sun back-lighting the bird causing all detail of the bird to be in shadows. While this isn't ideal, it can still make for a nice silhouette. I really like the positioning of the eagle and how close the eagle is to the river waters.

Check out the markings and color of this juvenile bald eagle...so dramatic! I love how the feathers are all flared out. Such a pretty bird!
