What a gift I received on Nation Bird Day. I was a bit bummed this winter break that I wasn't able to get images of my beloved bald eagles due to the warmer winter. In fact, most of winter break has been cloudy, foggy, or rainy. Today, however, the light was perfect and, while I didn't get to go out to seek some nature images, nature came to me. When I returned home from my daughter's soccer game, I noticed a few birds in my neighbor's Hawthorn Tree, which has many winter berries. I got a bit closer and noticed that they were Cedar Waxwings! I have never been so close to feeding waxwings so I immediately went in and grabbed my camera. There had to be 100 of them flying to and from the Hawthorn tree and back to surrounding trees. These have been the best bird images that I have taken with my new Canon EOS R. It was great finally having such great light and such a great birding experience in my yard on Nation Bird Day. Thank you mother nature!
