Here is an image from yesterday when the sun peaked out for a few. I was happy to catch this eagle in front of this background while banking so you can see his impressive markings and colors. Sometimes it isn't just about timing the moment of an eagle catching a fish, but getting the perfect background is always a challenge.

This is why you need to monitor the wind direction when you are taking eagle images. This shot is so much better than images of the bird going the other way and it is a nice change of angle from the side profile. This gives you a view of the open wings. The light could have been better but I'm happy with the image.

I went to the L&D14 on the Mississippi River again today (1-20-14) and once again had some success as you can see from my first edit from today's trip. The lighting most of the morning wasn't good but the eagles were active and fishing. Unfortunately, once the light improved the eagles weren't fishing where I was. I really like this image. It represents nature, our planet, its beauty, and hope for its future. The sun had almost set giving that last bit of light for the day. The magnificent bald eagle soaring to find his evening perch. The very important tree in the background that provides the safe habitat needed to protect and house so many wildlife species...
