A Young Bald Eagle on Guard

Here is an image from yesterday's trip to the Mississippi River of a juvenile bald eagle perched on a rock along the river banks. It was a very cold day, but perfect for these eagles. The colder the weather, the more fishing they do. Much of the river was iced over except at the lock and dams, which is why they are there...to fish the open water....

Eagle Bully

Here is an interesting image from today of one eagle that dropped down on another eagle and pushed down on its head. I'm not sure what was going on. I know the eagles will fight over a fish, but the eagle below didn't have a fish. It isn't technically the best image, but I found it interesting enough to share. Facebook

I've wanted this pose for awhile now. I've had it in my mind and this is pretty close to what I was hoping for. I love when the eagles open their wings and use them like breaks to catch the wind as they zero in on their target. This particular bird had a change of heart and ended up flying back into the sky without a meal, but I love this pose and...
