Getting light like this while photographing these eagles is a blessing. The morning of Jan. 10th was very pretty. Clouds moved in later in the day and darkened things up, but having that light for just a little while was amazing.

Giving me a Wink

Here is an eagle actually giving me a wink! Basically, eagles have a nictitating membrane that acts as its eyelid. It is transparent so the eagle can still see when it blinks. I've never seen an eagle have one eyelid closed and the other open...definitely a wink.;)

Inches Above the Mississippi

Look at how close to the river this bird was flying just moments before attempting to grab a fish. This always amazes me! I can't image that feeling of flying 30-35 mph just inches above the water...what a thrill!
