I don't want anyone thinking I'm only into eagles so I decided to upload an image from today of another local favorite. I had a nice meet-up with this pretty red-headed thing this afternoon. She is obviously keeping busy this winter.

When the sun catches those underbelly feathers and wings of the bald eagle, it is like the heavens open and pure gold reflects back....so beautiful. Even the eagle in the tree seems impressed.

I'm not sure, in all of nature, if there is a more beautiful attack by one animal on another for survival than a bald eagle plucking a fish. Power, grace, and precision all coming together to form a most beautiful attack.

Brilliant Fly-Over

When I see a fly-over like this, I do everything in my power to keep the camera and lens on the eagle and my finger on the shutter button. I've missed this shot before because I'm standing with my chin dropped and my eyes gazing at the brilliance of the eagle.
