Alaskan Morning Whale Spout

Alaskan Morning Whale BlowAlaskan Morning Whale BlowThis is the first landscape I processed from our family cruise to Alaska. I completely fell in love with Alaska's breathtaking landscapes and incredible wildlife. It was our first cruise and our first visit to this beautiful Frontier. Everywhere you look, the scenery feels wild, pristine, and untouched. It is the perfect place to disconnect from the busyness of everyday life and become immersed in nature and God's incredible creation.
Between the week I spent in Alaska and the week we spent traveling through three National Parks between Illinois and Washington, I captured nearly 22,000 images, totaling more than 1.25 terabytes of data. The task of sorting through and processing them is certainly daunting, but I'm excited to relive those unforgettable moments through my photography and continue bringing them to life through my art.
This image was taken early one morning shortly after sunrise. Most mornings were blanketed in fog and sea mist, but on this particular day I was blessed with a brief window of clarity that revealed the stunning mountain landscape. As I composed this image, I had no idea that a whale had surfaced in the lower left corner, sending a blow into the air and creating what I feel is a truly iconic Alaskan scene.
I'm not sure any photograph can fully capture the beauty and scale of this incredible place, but I'm excited to share the moments I was fortunate enough to experience.
