An Evening to Remember

An Evening to RememberAn Evening to RememberSo I've said many times that an image can take you back to a place and time when the moment was captured forever preserving that feeling. Here is one of those moments that I never want to forget. This was taken at Daniel's Park just north of Castle Rock. It provides an amazing view of the Rockies to the west and a sunset to die for. It is like nature's amphitheater with several rock ledges to sit on to enjoy nature's show. While we were in Colorado, most sunsets were obscured by clouds so we never saw a blue-sky sunset, but that didn't stop the sun from showing it's brilliance on this particular night. The clouds actually helped create these amazing rays, which induced several oooohs and aaaaahs from all of us watching. While I was photographing this sunset from higher up, my family enjoyed climbing the rocks to find more vantage points. I love this image because you can see them to the right on rocks enjoying the moment. I purposefully tried to put the sun to the left and include my family to the right...using my wide-angle lens made this possible. I also had to expose so that I could capture both the sun rays and have enough light to see my family. I love the warmth of the sunlight and rays shining down on the earth while the cool blue sky peaks through the clouds. This was our last evening in Colorado and it sure left us with an evening to remember.
