Red Headed WoodpeckersOne of the most beautiful woodpeckers in Illinois is the Red-headed Woodpecker. Unfortunately due to a decline in their natural habitat, their numbers have decreased. Yesterday, while hiking, I found a bunch of these birds flying from tree to tree. As beautiful as they are perched on the trees, they are even more striking while in flight with their black and white wing markings. It was a great feeling and sight capturing several of these birds in one image. Facebook
