Pair of Red-headed WoodpeckersI went on a hike through Merwin Nature Preserve today, which is my go to spot for red-headed woodpeckers, and it did not disappoint. One look into the dense cover and you could spot the unmistakable flashes of white wings that these beautiful birds display. There were several flying form tree to tree. Unfortunately it was difficult finding a good image in good light, but luckily this image turned out as you can see another red-headed woodpecker on the distant tree. This is such a great place to walk, sit on a park bench and watch the birds.
