Just before sunset and right before leaving Dawson Lake after driving around it for over 30 minutes, I spotted these deer. I guess it just goes to show, don't give up on a quiet run for wildlife; anything can happen at the last minute. I typically leave my camera on, lens cap off, and ISO set higher as it nears dusk, just for situations just like this. You can see the night light on the trees across the lake, but the deer were standing in shade, so I had my ISO set at 1000 on my Canon 7D. Luckily I got the shot before they turned and left for the trees.
