Lock and Dam 14
In the next few weeks, I will be adding more images of the amazing bald eagles from the Mississippi River, specifically Lock and Dam 14. For this trip (Jan. 20th, 2013), I rented a 400mm f/5.6L canon lens. It has twice the reach of my current lens. When you go there, you see many photographers using 400mm lenses and up...in fact, many have 500, 600, and 800mm f/2.8L IS lenses...I was geeking out! There weren't very many eagles this day and the action was slow; the light was also poor...mostly gray snow clouds. That didn't keep me from making the most of the opportunities these birds gave me. I'm pleased with how quickly I learned the lens and how I keep improving on these trips to Iowa. Enjoy! Visit the album to see the collection of images that date back to 2011.
