So this little guy had me convinced I had discovered North Dakota’s first marmot! LOL. I was pretty excited about my apparent wildlife discovery—until I reached out to Theodore Roosevelt National Park to get confirmation. They kindly clarified that this was actually just a large, dirty prairie dog that had probably been burrowing through a coal seam, giving him those darker brown colors. 😂I was thankful for the park’s reply and, while I may not have discovered a new species, I did discover one exceptionally cute “dirty dog”!
