Young Bald Eagle with a Small Catch

Young Bald Eagle with a Small Catch

The juvenile bald eagles can be some of the most difficult to photograph because their colors blend so much. At certain angles you can't see their heads as they blend in with their bodies. I really like this unique pose of a juvenile showing off the tiny shad he plucked from the river. The juveniles were really struggling to fish and keep up with the mature eagles on this blustery cold day. It was like they didn't have as much body control as the mature birds with more experience flying and fishing. They would look for the easiest way to eat, which sometimes meant chasing other birds and picking up their scraps. I hope you enjoy this latest edition to my eagle portfolio.
