I spent a good amount of time photographing this beautiful Great Blue Heron a couple of weeks ago at Dawson Lake in Moraine View State Park, and everything seemed to come together perfectly. The water was completely still, creating beautiful reflections, while the light fell perfectly across the heron and brought out every detail in its feathers. Around it, vibrant fall leaves drifted across the surface of the water, adding splashes of color to an already beautiful scene. Moments like this—when the wildlife, light, water, and colors all come together—are exactly what photographers live for.
