I had a lot of fun with my son today visiting Emiquon National Wildlife Refuge to look for birds. We saw several great birds, but the one we didn't expect to see was this Black-crowned Night Heron. I was busy photographing a gull fishing when Evan called out that a bird was flying in behind us. We quickly took several photos, and I couldn't believe we were witnessing a Black-crowned Night Heron flying overhead. Great spot, Evan! What a fun bird to photograph in flight.
