I have been in search of the pileated woodpecker for awhile now. This bird always seems to elude me. I've heard it many times but I can never seem to spot it. Today was my day. Despite the snowy conditions and poor lighting, I saw 2 pileated woodpeckers. Here is one of the images that I made despite the heavy snow and poor lighting conditions. I was so excited to actually see this bird. They truly are large and magnificent birds.
