Check out this scruffy looking Red-headed Woodpecker. It has been awhile since I hiked Merwin Nature Preserve, but Julie took me there for my birthday. I was relieved to see that the red-headed woodpeckers were still there in numbers. We didn't see much wildlife but between this little red head and a belted kingfisher, I felt good about the sightings. Plus I was able to enjoy nature on a hike with my lovely wife.
