I enjoyed watching this Downy Woodpecker make trips back to the nest to feed the chicks inside the hollowed-out tree. It was a cute process to observe. It would find a grub and bring it back, and I could hear the chicks calling inside. The parent woodpecker would bob in and out of the hole, and with each exit, the grub would get smaller. The chicks were quite noisy inside.
