Worm-eating Warbler
I was fortunate enough tonight to relocate the rare and notoriously difficult-to-find Worm-eating Warbler that my son discovered yesterday. Photographing this little warbler proved to be every bit as challenging as finding it. Most of the time it stayed close to the ground, buried beneath thick brush and tangled cover, offering only brief glimpses in extremely poor light. I came away with several heavily underexposed images, but this one stood out to me because it truly captures the difficulty of locating and photographing such a secretive little 4-inch bird in its preferred habitat. The lighting conditions made properly exposing the image incredibly difficult, which only added to the challenge of the encounter.
